one day you will be old
one day you will be old you will realize that most of the things you worry about do not matter
that time has stolen from you the things you never thought about and wish you had paid more attention to you will sit and look at things long gone wonder quietly to yourself how they got so out of reach but you know inside it is because you never cared to see them until they had passed in the turbulent seas of life and death and everything between
you will wish you could say one more thing feel one more thing do one more thing express the things you were afraid to say and question how different things would be if only if only
eventually you will have children of your own and you will try to teach them what you have learned that these things that seem like mountains are barely cracks in the road to be present so you notice the beauty of the world around you before it is long gone before you are jaded and angry about the things you did not see
you will remember the times i said these things to you and how you still needed to learn them on your own a little bit further from me but more of yourself exploring the universe free from the shield i tried to provide sprouting on your own in simple moments and deep breaths
you will still try to teach these things hard learned battles that left you bloodied and uncertain searching for direction in hopes that they do not have to learn them as you did as i did in hopes they do not have to see these truths after they're gone and it is far too late in hopes they learn to live and love in the present before they learn the pain of loving the past
